Having a problem with the DeoVR app? The quickest fix starts with a log. In the app, open Settings → Bug report → Send log, then send the ID it shows you to our support team with a few words about what went wrong.
Can't get to Settings? If DeoVR won't start, keeps crashing or freezes before you can open Settings, use Option 2 on PC or Option 3 on Quest and Pico instead.
Option 1: Send the log from the app
This works on Quest, Pico and PC. It takes about a minute, and you don't need a computer or cable.
- Make the problem happen once more, if you can.
- Don't close or restart DeoVR. The log only covers what happened since the app was last started.
- Open Settings in DeoVR and choose Bug report.
- Press Send log and wait a few seconds.
- You'll see ID assigned: followed by a code. Write it down or take a screenshot.
- Send that ID to our support team (see the checklist at the end).
If DeoVR crashed or closed by itself, the log from before the crash is gone the next time the app starts. In that case, use Option 2 (PC) or Option 3 (Quest/Pico) instead.
Option 2: PC, when the app crashed, won't start or you can't reach Settings
The PC version (Steam or Meta/Oculus PC) saves its log as a file. It also keeps the log from the previous run, so it still has what happened just before a crash.
- Close DeoVR.
- Press Windows key + R on your keyboard.
- Paste this line and press Enter:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Deo VR\Deo VR
- A folder opens. Find these two files:
- Player-prev.log: the run before the last start. This is the one we need after a crash.
- Player.log: the most recent run.
- Attach both files to your support request.
Don't start DeoVR again before copying the files: each start replaces the older log.
Option 3: Quest or Pico, when the app crashed, won't start or you can't reach Settings (needs a PC)
Use this whenever Option 1 isn't possible. It also gives us the most detailed log, so our support team may ask for it even after you've sent one from the app. The headset keeps its log for only a few minutes, so do the "Each time" steps right after the problem happens.
One-time setup
- Turn on developer mode on your headset:
- Quest: in the Meta Horizon phone app, go to Devices → your headset → Headset settings → Developer mode.
- Pico: Settings → General → About, tap Software version 7 times, then turn on USB debugging under Developer.
- On your PC, download and unzip Android platform-tools.
Each time
- Connect the headset to the PC with a USB cable. In the headset, choose Allow when asked about USB debugging.
- Open the unzipped platform-tools folder, type
cmdin the folder's address bar and press Enter. - Paste this line and press Enter:
adb logcat -d > deovr_log.txt
- A file called deovr_log.txt appears in the platform-tools folder. Attach it to your support request.
What to put in your support request
Submit your request to our support team. The more of these you include, the faster we can help:
- The ID from Option 1, or the log files from Option 2 or 3
- Your device: Quest 3, Quest 3S, Pico 4, or PC with which headset (and Steam or Meta/Oculus app)
- What you were doing, e.g. "opened a cam with passthrough on"
- What went wrong, e.g. "black screen" or "app closed"
- Roughly when it happened (date and time)
- A screenshot or short video, if you have one
